Whether you’ve considered a career in recruitment, or you’re just downright curious about what we do all day – here’s your chance to get a sneak peek at the life of a recruiter.

Our colleague shares what a typical day is like for him, although it’s important to note that no two days are ever the same.

7:15am – wake up time, get ready for work, 30-minute commute to the office.

8:30am – arrive at the office

8:30am to 9:30am – review applications, respond to candidate emails, and shortlist candidates to be called later in the day.

9:30am to 10am – hop on LinkedIn to respond and/or send out new messages to prospective candidates and clients.

10am to 11:30am – review our other databases to search for candidates and compile a list of who to call later in the afternoon.

11:30am to 12:30pm – blitz hour to call candidates (typically, a good time to reach them is during lunch). Also, this is when he checks in with his candidates who are interviewing that day and coaches candidates who have upcoming interviews.

12:30pm to 1:30pm – eat lunch, or interview candidates (depends on how busy the day is)

1:30pm to 3pm – call back any clients he couldn’t get a hold of, call clients to check in on how interviews went, write job ads and try to get a hold of job descriptions from HR Managers for upcoming roles.

3pm to 5pm – focus on business development. Here he sets up meetings with warm leads and occasionally cold calling new organisations.

5pm to 5:30pm – post jobs and general admin.

5:30pm+ – answering candidate calls (typically when they’re finished work)

In between all that, he’s in team meetings, delivering good news (sometimes bad news) and occasionally playing ping pong amongst the office champions.
