    Many companies are still conducting interviews via video. One positive about video interviews is that you can write down a cheat sheet to help prompt you along the way. Examples of your sales process and notes on the company are great as a starting point, but it’s also easy to forget about the questions you want to ask.

    Well thought out, pre-prepared questions mean that you don’t waste an opportunity to better understand the good, the bad and the ugly about any particular job opportunity. The quality and depth of the questions also show that you are thinking hard about the role and are genuinely interested in making a career choice and not just using this as a backup option. Hiring Managers love great questions, and if they don’t, alarm bells should probably start to ring.

    Here are 10 questions that work well, especially for customer success and sales roles;

    1. What will the measures of my success be in the first six months of this role?
    2. Who is the highest performer in the team, and what makes them successful?
    3. What are the biggest challenges faced in this role?
    4. Can you explain how the onboarding and training are structured?
    5. What’s the most surprising thing you learned about this company after joining?
    6. What growth do you anticipate for the company over the next 12 months, and what will drive that growth?
    7. What marketing processes are in place to support the sales team’s efforts?
    8. What is the key value proposition that separates you from the competition?
    9. What do future career opportunities look like, and what are the criteria to achieve them?
    10. Is there any reason you think I wouldn’t be right for this role?
